The repair order overlay
The repair order overlay is the full record of one visit. Click any RO card, on any tab, and it opens on top of the board you came from. Use the arrow keys to swap to the next or previous repair order without closing it.
Title bar and header
The title bar carries the RO number (click it to copy), a Project chip when the visit is a project, the current status label, and an Unable to Complete chip when a job card is flagged. On the right sit Print, Download PDF (shown once an inspection exists), work search, the + island, and close.
Below it, the header packs the dense visit metadata plus the inline arrival-authorisation cluster: Send, Override, or Arrive vehicle, depending on where authorisation stands.
The operational timeline
A collapsible timeline tracks the visit through Arrived, Safety Check, Work, Wash, Quote, Ready, and Picked Up. It is hidden on mobile, where the ledger spine carries the same story.
Three columns on desktop
- Left: Logs & Chat. The activity feed, a message composer, and booking notes. The column is resizable.
- Centre: the work table. Job cards are the only primary work rows, plus one derived WASH row for RO-level wash assignment and media via its wash dropdown. Billing and Report are independent chip columns; the Status column uses severity glyphs, not chips. The
+island adds work, wash, a draft invoice, or a QC check. - Right: the commercial rail. A pinned block sits first and never collapses: Progress (DONE / NOW / NEXT journey) on a regular RO, Budget (spent versus maximum) on a project. Below it, every commercial record is its own name-first row: the customer report, each quote, each invoice, and the quote builder. A row expands its full production panel in place, and several can be open at once. Storage charges and advisor records sit in the rail footer.
The interactions that matter
- Arrive the vehicle or resolve authorisation from the header cluster: Send, Override, or Arrive vehicle.
- Add to the visit from the
+island: work, wash, a draft invoice, or a QC check. - Open a commercial record in the rail. The quote builder, each quote, each invoice, and the customer report expand independently.
- Log a message or note in Logs & Chat so the record travels with the RO.
- Swap repair orders with the arrow keys to review several visits in a row.
On mobile
Small screens replace the columns with a ledger spine, with Logs & Chat and Today & Billing available as bottom sheets.
Write actions are permission-gated: arrival actions need the process-arrivals permission, adding a QC check needs review authority, and non-lead technicians do not get this overlay at all.
